The HDT Small Heater Space (SHS) is designed for 5-person soldier tents (soldier crew tents), soft-wall shelters, temporary structures and other tents with a floor area up to 100 square feet.

The SHS is a non-powered, liquid-fuel burning, vented, radiant heater built for optimum efficiency and mobility in demanding field conditions. Designed to deliver up to 60ºF heat to personnel and equipment housed in 5- to 10-man (80 to 100 square feet) arctic tents. The SHS can burn a wide range of liquid fuels (DF1, DF2, DFA and JP8) for maximum flexibility and control of strategic resources.

The SHS is compact, lightweight and highly mobile to facilitate rapid field deployment under even the most extreme conditions. The unit is designed for simplicity of operation and minimal maintenance to augment primary mission capability. Products of combustion are vented outside the structure for safety and comfort. The new "S" tube technology overcomes major safety and combustion problems that existed in the past, such as inadequate ventilation, excess smoke and fumes from diesel fuel combustion and exposure of raw fuel during operation.
